Storms cause trees to take deeper roots.

How Can We Deepen Our Roots?

Where in our lives can we develop more safety, security and stability?

When I ask myself this question the physical matter of breathing, food and water, sleep, and other physiological needs come to mind.

For many of us we react and simply survive through the never ending hustle that is life. Experiencing anxiety and fears on a mental and emotional level. Maybe even experiencing physical symptoms within the lower back, feet and legs. The structures that provide the stability to move within this world. Possibly physical symptoms within the colon, bladder and issues with elimination. Ignoring our body’s innate wisdom on what we need in the present moment we find ourselves repeating patterns that keep us stuck in life.

Awareness is Queen here.

Where can you begin to explore and bring awareness to in your life of insecurity and instability? Get real candid here and do an honest audit of your life on all levels: Spirit, Mind and Body as well as living situations, work situations, financial situations, etc.
What if we responded and met our physiological needs first??? As if we are reparenting our inner child!
As Above, So Below
So Within, So Without
As the Universe, So the Soul
Whether you had a ‘normal’ upbringing or experienced big T or little t trauma our bodies have stored the memories within our cells and tissues. Our autonomic nervous system responds to each moment through the sympathetic or parasympathetic based off the sensory information coming in through the senses, brain and corresponding nerves.
These storms that we encountered especially in infancy and early childhood have the ability for us to take deep roots. If the storms were too strong in those early years our tree may have uprooted, been replanted and is trying to heal the broken roots while sending new roots deeper into the ground. Are you sensing this metaphor???

If you are feeling uprooted or as if the very ground beneath you is shifting and sliding I encourage you to try a few of the following sensory experiences, meditations and exercises to bring in the energy of stability, security and safety.

Diaphragmatic Breathing

Drinking purified water with a pinch of salt

Eating balanced and varied nourishment. Envision color, fresh, whole foods.

Self-care and relaxation techniques prior to bed to invite a restful and rejuvenating sleep.

Meditations for inner child healing, inner child reparenting, and root chakra meditations, mudras and mantras.

Reiki energy healing to clear stored memories, balance energy flow and provide unconditional love.

Empower yourself to balance your finances.

Empower yourself to create boundaries with family, friends and co-workers so that you feel safe!

Empower yourself to create the feeling of safety and stability within your home environment.

Walk barefoot on the Earth. Not only does it connect you directly with the ground it stimulates the feet.

This next one is combining many different researched healing modalities. Imagine a private session or group setting where you are led through a Sensory Experience for the Root Chakra. Pick one, two or all of the following to try out at home!

Chromotherapy: Red Glasses or a Red Light in a room

Sound Healing: Listening or activating tuning forks to 174 hz, 396 hz or the schumann resonance.

Aromatherapy: The Root Chakra main sense is the sense of smell! Scents to diffuse into the air or anoint wrist, feet or pulse points (as long as you have no known allergies or sensitivities to them!) are: Sandalwood, cypress, elemi, cedar wood, and rosewood, frankincense, clary sage, geranium, rose, vetiver, patchouli, yang ylang, grapefruit, myrrh, and pine.

Mindful eating of root vegetables, red colored foods, teas, and seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Acupressure along the Stomach and Spleen Meridian lines.

Isolated contraction of the Conception Vessel 1 and Governing Vessel 1 Points. This is also known as a Kegel or Root lock.

Any physical exercise that works the feet and legs.

Most of these sensory experiences are simply to get you in-tune with your physical body and bring awareness to associations to the root chakra. Even if its a placebo effect, if you find yourself feeling more grounded, secure, safe and stable after trying these its a win right?!

For more information on the what the heck the root chakra is look for a post on it in the future!
